About the Role:
As a CNC / Prototype Machinist the candidate will be at the forefront of the product development process transforming concepts and designs into tangible reality. The candidate will work closely with engineers and designers using machining skills to fabricate precise high-quality prototype parts from a variety of materials.
Responsibilities:
•Translate complex engineering drawings sketches and CAD models into precise machined parts.
•Operate a range of CNC machines including mills and lathes setting up and running programs to create innovative prototypes.
•Work with diverse materials including metals plastics and potentially exotic alloys understanding their properties and machining requirements.
•Produce parts with exacting specifications and maintain tight tolerances using inspection equipment to ensure accuracy and quality.
•Create custom fixtures and tooling to facilitate complex machining processes.
•Work closely with engineers and fellow team members providing valuable input and insights throughout the design and prototyping stages.
•Maintain detailed records of work including build records process logs and inspection data.
•Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that may arise during the machining process including adjusting tool paths and speeds.
•Contribute to the continuous improvement of prototyping processes identifying and implementing solutions for efficiency and accuracy.
•Inspect finished parts rigorously to guarantee they meet all specifications and quality standards.
Qualifications:
•2+ years of experience in CNC machining is preferred with at least 1 year of experience or formal training in CNC machining (certificate required).
•Demonstrated skill in programming and operating CNC machines including experience with CAM software (e.g. Mastercam).
•Strong ability to read and understand engineering drawings and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
•Familiarity with a variety of materials and their unique machining characteristics.
•Meticulous attention to detail to ensure precision and accuracy in all aspects of work.
•A proactive approach to identifying and resolving technical challenges during the machining process.
•The ability to work effectively as part of a team communicating clearly with engineers and other stakeholders.
